Marvin Windows: Product Lines, Warranty Terms and How They're Sold
Marvin offers wood, clad and fiberglass lines with a fully transferable limited warranty. Here's how its lines and coverage are structured, based on Marvin's own documents.
Who Marvin is and how it sells
Marvin's history page describes the company as family-owned and family-led, founded in 1912 as Marvin Lumber and Cedar Co. in Warroad, Minnesota, and now led by the fourth generation.
Marvin's warranty requires windows to be bought from an authorized Marvin dealer. Replacement projects go through Certified Installing Retailers, and Infinity by Marvin has its own dealer network and a separate Infinity Replacement service in select locations.
Product lines and materials
Per Marvin's site: Ultimate has an aluminum-clad exterior with a wood interior, Modern is aluminum, Vivid has an Ultrex fiberglass exterior with a fiberglass-reinforced composite interior, Elevate has a wood interior with an Ultrex fiberglass exterior, and Essential is Ultrex fiberglass inside and out. Infinity by Marvin is a fiberglass line made by a separate company with its own warranty.

What the warranty says
We read the Marvin Limited Warranty effective February 26, 2024. It covers owners of the structure and is described as fully transferable. Insulating glass is covered for 20 years for sizes up to 60 square feet and 10 years for larger sizes. Non-glass parts and hardware are 10 years, and aluminum cladding is 20 years (10 years within one mile of salt water).
Removal, installation, finishing and disposal costs are not included, claims must be made within 60 days of the defect appearing, coastal hardware is covered only if stainless steel or PVD finish, and the document includes class-action and jury waivers. The Infinity replacement warranty we read is lifetime for the original owner-occupant and becomes a 10/20-year warranty after a sale. Warranty terms change by edition and product line. This guide summarizes the documents we read; always get the current warranty for the exact series you're quoted.
What to ask before you buy
Ask which line and warranty edition apply, whether any of your windows exceed 60 square feet, and how close your home is to salt water. Compare with Andersen in our Andersen vs. Marvin comparison and review our installer vetting questions.
